Mr. Lundstrom received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University in 1991. He received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah, S. J. Quinney College of Law in 2004.
Prior to undertaking his legal education, Mr. Lundstrom spent more than 11 years working in the aerospace industry. He worked as a Senior Principal Engineer for Alliant Tech Systems, Inc. (formerly Thiokol Corporation), on various NASA and DOD products including the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Motors, and the Trident and Minuteman launch vehicles. While at Thiokol, he obtained experience with numerous design, analysis, manufacturing, and inspection processes. As a result, Mr. Lundstrom has practical experience in numerous fields of science, including aerodynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and material science. Mr. Lundstrom also has experience with a wide variety of applied technologies, including solid propellant formulation, metal and composite hardware design and production, CNC automated machining and manufacturing processes, manual and automated dimensional inspection systems, corrosion protection systems, and various non-destructive (NDT) inspection systems including optical, ultrasonic, X-ray, eddy current, and magnetic particle systems.
Mr. Lundstrom’s legal practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of United States and foreign patents in the mechanical sciences, as well as in a variety of trademark and copyright matters. Mr. Lundstrom’s practice also encompasses preparation of patent and trademark infringement opinions, technology licenses and assignments, and patent litigation planning and support. He has drafted patents in various technologies including medical devices, law enforcement protective equipment, lawn and garden equipment, prosthetics, ink jet printers, and kitchen appliances. He has also worked as a volunteer for Utah’s Protection and Advocacy Agency in the disability law group.
Mr. Lundstrom is admitted to the Utah State Bar and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is admitted before both Utah state and federal courts.
