History
Mr. Haymond is a non-equity partner at Thorpe, North & Western. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah, and a Juris Doctorate degree in law from the John Marshal Law School.
Mr. Haymond’s practice emphasis is in the acquisition and enforcement of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. He has assisted clients in obtaining patents in various technologies including: wireless and optical communications, digital communications, networking, electro-optic devices, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), electronics, software, and various mechanical devices
Mr. Haymond was privileged to be a member of the John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law, where he served on the Executive Board while in law school. During the summers between semesters, Mr. Haymond worked as a Summer Associate in Chicago at the law firm of Jenkens & Gilchrist and in the Washington DC offices of Howrey Simon where he worked on several large patent litigation projects.
Prior to attending law school Mr. Haymond worked in the fields of microwave and digital communications as a senior electrical engineer at L3 Communications. While in this capacity, he participated in the design, manufacture and testing of high speed wireless communications systems used in the military and intelligence communities, including data links for the U2 Spy Plane, the SR71, the Predator UAV, and other classified programs. He co-developed system software for a $2M automated broadband RF test stand for the U2 Directorate using a graphical programming language. He also developed and upgraded a variety of automated tests for wireless communications components and sub-systems.
Mr. Haymond is admitted to the Utah State Bar, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is admitted before both state and U.S. federal courts.
