He is also an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

As a graduate student he studied in the field of statistical thermodynamics with a focus in osmotic molecular dynamics. This research involved using UNIX-based computer simulations of chemical mixtures to obtain excess thermodynamic properties via a unique semi-permeable membrane and resulted in a Thesis entitled Activity Coefficients and Excess Properties of Non-polar Binary Mixtures as Predicted by Osmotic Molecular Dynamics.

Prior to joining Thorpe North & Western, Mr. Ericksen spent time in Wyoming working on the production of baking soda from raw trona and improving solvent recovery. He also has worked as a volunteer for the Office of Guardian ad Litem in child neglect and custody cases.
