History
Mr. Hobson is a partner in the firm. He is a graduate of the University of Utah, where he received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Juris Doctor degree.
As an engineering student, Mr. Hobson achieved the Dean’s Honor List, was a member of Pi Tau Sigma Engineering Honor Society, and received an Undergraduate Research Grant from the National Science Foundation.
Mr. Hobson spent several years as a Project Engineer overseeing the development and production of consumer products, including irrigation devices, and as a Research and Development Engineer, in the developing of a natural gas compressor for vehicles. In addition, he was a Research Assistant at the Physical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at the University of Utah, where he designed test equipment for boundary layer studies in a wind tunnel. As a result, Mr. Hobson has first-hand experience with various technologies, including injection molding, ultrasonic welding, pneumatics, hydraulics, fluid dynamics, compressors, and cogeneration.
Mr. Hobson has drafted numerous patents in various technologies, including medical equipment, optical equipment, computer displays, printers, composites, actuators, sensors, computer chip manufacturing, product packaging, micro-fabrication, prosthetics, sporting equipment, camping and climbing equipment, self-defense devices, tools, irrigation equipment, teaching aids and toys.
Mr. Hobson is admitted to the Utah State Bar and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is admitted before both state and federal courts and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
